The Nunhead Art Trail 23-24 September

I am getting the doors of my shared house open for The Nunhead Art Trail this September.

Set of pieces I will make will be fragments of the boxing gym equipment, made of ceramics.
I plan to display some parts of ethnographic investigation of New Cross and terracotta shapes I made though the last year.

I want to reflect on the culture of the self and landscape pastoral version for heavy training.
I want to start putting together a narrative of new cross and make my conflicted character, Robin emerge.

This is a rare chance for me to create something I could share with my boxing and ceramics and art community, and see if it happens.

Pizza from Tatiana Baskakova on Vimeo.

pizza came about as a diverstion from tableware project, as it isn't a simple project. I am still intending to go though all the steps of it. For now - pizza ladies.

Rob Carter came to my studio to work with clay (we arranged that we'll have a day in the studio working on something), and in the end he just did a bit of slip work on these fingers. I applied blue nail polish and bit of red underglaze. I think I wanted to make a joke sculpting something like masturbating gresture, and adding blood is all about enjoying female sexuality... and self-enjoyment.
I think blue nails are to do with nail polish i got for sister's wedding. It was a hard time for me and family.
This work is a result of a burnout and a dear collaboration. TY RC

the glove

I was sick in March quite badly and had to stop my practice of becoming a boxer for 3 weeks. As a soothing exercise and to bring to reality desired pair of new gloves I decided to sculpt one.

Maybe making representational pieces is far too easy. Who would say they don't want an easy life?

Technical challenge of ceramics practice however representational it is is a big deal after 3 years of dealing with the medium. The glove is coiled and empty inside. I love the reslults with earthstone smooth clay. Glazing is the next step.
